sonoma..

rob and i decided to take advantage of some time off and headed to sonoma for a few days. we have been to napa a few times, but this was our first trip to this part of the beautiful wine country. 

(this blog will also serve as an advertisement to come visit us.)

we packed up our bags (man, babies require a lot of things) and headed out. it was a beautiful drive up and we made amazing time.. 1 hour, 45 minutes. little robert slept the whole way.

we arrived at our hotel, got settled, and went to the wine tasting the hotel provided every evening. it was deerfield winery and very good. rob and i were so excited for robert to experience his first tasting.. robert, on the other hand, looked less than thrilled.

our only saving grace were the beautiful fountains on the property. that is what he is looking at instead of the camera :-)

after our tasting, we headed out to dinner. we had a great time, especially robert. going out to eat with a nine month old can be very interesting. rob and i are constantly pulling out different things to keep him occupied.. puffs, bread, spoons, plastic cups, toys, straws.. you name it. luckily, the booth we were at backed up to a window. that was a good 20 minutes of entertainment. i wouldn't call our dining out experiences relaxing, but they are a lot of fun.

the best part of the hotel for robert, besides the fountains, was the huge bathtub. he was in heaven.

the next day, we headed to explore the sonoma coast. we stopped in bodega bay for lunch. it was a beautiful day and perfect weather.

on our way back, while robert napped, we drove around sonoma to some of the wineries. it was absolutely breathtaking. 

that night we headed out to a local pizza place and called it a night.

we were so sad to leave the next day.. and it didn't help that we got stuck in tahoe traffic for memorial day weekend. this little guy made it fun though. (note: the car is stopped in the picture where he is out of his seat..)

now, who wants to come visit?!
