nine months old, robert charles? no way! everyone tells you how quickly time will fly by and i am here to tell you, it's true!
sweet robert, this has been a crazy busy month for you! so much has happened and changed.. let's see what we have been up to!
we will just start from the beginning..
stats..
weight: 19ish pounds, height: 28ish inches, size 6-12 month clothes, and size 3 diapers
eating..
oh robert charles.. eating is not your favorite. after talking with lots of doctors, we have switched reflux medicine. initially after the switch in medicine, we saw big improvements. eating without screaming? that happens? :-) i was ready to invite the inventor of prevaicd to our house for dinner. it was victory.. i was strutting around like mom of the year.. structured napping and eating.. babywise had nothing on me. but then, as children always do, he threw us another curveball. yay for teeth :-) anyway, as of now, with the eating, we are switching the medicine to twice a day and changing eating up a little. basically the reflux has caused some trauma and we are going to have to find ways to make eating a positive thing for you but set limits at the same time.
it hasn't been all bad though.. we have tried some yummy new foods and textures. i am still loving making the food and cannot wait for you to eat more of it! you take all bottles now and will be on mostly formula very shortly. (did you know frozen breastmilk can go bad?! it can. just putting that out there.) you also have 3 solid meals a day in your snazzy highchair. we have added more veggies, waffles, cream cheese, ricotta cheese, pasta, and a few meats in the mix.
crawling..
go buddy go! may 4th: sat up on your own from lying down, may 5th: started belly/ army crawling, may 7th: started a very uncoordinated, but effective crawl, may 13th: professional level crawler. we feel like he could win some sort of competition for speed and agility. it is so much fun. he follows us from room to room, comes to us when we get home from work, and is quickly showing us just how much more baby-proofing needs to be done.
here is a little video of crawling:
you are starting to discover that there are rooms other than the family room and kitchen. you will just dart to the big play room in no time or make a beeline to the guest bathroom.. but by far, your favorite place to be is by the cabinets near the tv. you like to open and close the doors and attempt to crawl into the cabinet. we say "no" and you will stop and turn around and smile at us. you know when we are chasing you and go faster while giggling. it really has to be one of the cutest things in the world. you are also pulling up to your knees and we just know that you will be pulling to stand in no time.. like maybe even tonight :-)
the beloved cabinet..
you just being so cute while playing..
teething..
your first tooth came through on may 13th. it's the bottom right.. and just today we noticed the bottom left is working its way in too. you have been pretty good, although we can tell you are uncomfortable sometimes.
teething really does bite..
ps.. can we just pause for a second and check out his cute dock shoes?! i mean, really. he looks like such a big boy!
sleeping..
well, with the teething, new tricks, and bad eating.. sleeping has been a little off somedays.
we are seeing a lot more of this on the monitor..
it is way more fun to just crawl around the crib than nap in it! you take 2 naps a day most days now.. with the morning nap lasting 45 minutes to an hour and the afternoon nap up to 2.5 hours. you sleep 10-11 hours at night. we lowered your crib to prevent you from escaping.. we are certain you would/ will try :-)
playing..
you are so much fun buddy. your days are full of playing peek-a-boo, clapping (started today and have not stopped!), chase, and ball, to name a few. you love to mimic noises now and turn the pages of your beloved books. you are still a huge fan of books. they always calm you down and you definitely have your favorites. we love this about you and both really look forward to reading with you everyday.
two things i finally captured on camera.. you looking for something after you dropped it. you will throw something on the ground, lean all the way over to find it, then look at us like we put it there. it is so funny. you also make the funniest "sniff" face. it is so cute.

we take walks and go to the park every day we can. it is one of our favorite things to do. we swing, go on the slides, and have "picnics" of mango puffs and water. only fine dining at our park :-)
robert charles, you are our sunshine. we love you so much. you make us so proud and surprise us every day with something new. watching you explore the world around you is one of our greatest joys and privileges. i remind myself every day to stay present with you. to be in the moment. to not worry about what is for dinner or when you need to eat next.. just to be with you. i don't want to miss a second.
and buddy, chicks really do dig you..
a look back..

ps.. are you noticing the sassy new collages and blog design? that would be my sweet friend, Jenn .. she taught me all about picnik and flickr :-) thanks jenn!
