one of my sweet friends, jacquie, invited robert and i to a family friend's ranch and pumpkin patch last month. i was so excited to bring robert to see all the farm animals and pick a pumpkin!
well, to say it nicely, it was a little bit of a disaster... or i was a little bit of a disaster rather :-)
i am a city girl... and i have discovered that robert follows in my footsteps!
first issue of the day, i went to park my car in a grass field near the patch (where every one else in trucks was parking) and pulled right into an irrigation ditch that was covered by overgrown grass. awesome. thank goodness for some very kind strangers, who are, no doubt, still laughing to themselves about it.
after i got my car lifted and pushed out of the ditch, robert and i were ready for some fun!
first stop.. baby pigs. i mean, who doesn't love baby pigs?!
robert. that's who. and me. if i am being honest.
a little piggy got loose and squealed so loud when caught that robert almost had a heart attack. the entire party (who had just watched me pull into an irrigation ditch) was just staring at us. ha.
i did manage to get a few cute pics of robert and avery though :-)
after that little incident, we just looked at the animals from a distance and did some posing on the giant haystack :-)
here is jac and her precious family..
finally, robert and i went to pick a pumpkin before heading out. well, we passed by a food table where robert swiped a tortilla chip (he gets a lot of things from me i guess). right as i leaned down to pick the pumpkin up, robert bit off a piece of chip that lodged itself right in his throat. he looked so scared and panicked. i dropped the pumpkin, stuck my finger in his mouth and got that chip out. (i know, know.. no blind sweeping.. i was scared and just did what came to me) he was screaming and i was holding his chest to my ear to listen for breath sounds when i turned around and noticed.. that again.. the entire crowd was watching us.
yes, we are those people who pull into a ditch, get scared of pigs and choke on chips.
thankyouverymuch.
crazy enough, we have another pumpkin patch date this week.. with a paved parking lot and no known tortilla chips. i'll keep you posted.
