last weekend, we went to heaven.. i mean, big sur.
listen guys. put it on your bucket list.. it's just too pretty to miss!!
(i say "guys" like more than one person reads this..ha)
our reason for the trip was two-fold.. one, to see this gorgeous place we have heard so much about and two, to give rob's beloved car one last big drive before we say goodbye :-( more on that later..
we decided to stay in monterey for the weekend because there is more to do there than around actual big sur. robert did great on the drive there and even ate some Jamaican food on the way down in palo alto.
we were so excited to learn that there was a whale festival down by the monterey pier. we had so much fun walking around and taking in all the pretty scenery.
they had this huge blow up whale that you could actually get in.. it was a big hit with little man!
it turned out to be such a pretty day..
robert just wanted to take it in all himself.. being held just wasn't an option. i swear this boy walked miles! it is so fun to watch him discover the world.
after playing on the pier, we walked around this park that hugged the water and saw some seals. robert was so cute when he heard them barking.. he'd say "woof woof"..
after some lunch, we made the drive down the coast to big sur. get ready for picture overload.
first we passed beautiful carmel..
then drove about 30 minutes down the coast to let robert get somewhat of a nap before we stopped to take pictures.. we randomly stopped at this restaurant and found these views..
not too shabby to us.. but robert was way more interested in the orange cones. they had a lot to talk about..
he just melts my heart..
then we turned around and went back up to monterey and took about a million pictures..
and the gorgeous car.. and the gorgeous man who drives it..
and more views..
funny story.. we stopped at a lighthouse at point sur. between the highway and the ocean was a huge green pasture with tons of cows..
you could hear the cows mooing from the car. we talk about how cows say "moooo" all the time at home.. so i told robert to listen to the cows.. and he heard that moo.. and i so wish i had the look on his face on camera. it was priceless. i think now he knows we don't just make this stuff up :-)
it was such a fun trip! we loved it and definitely plan on going back! many times!
robert was such a great traveler in the car (it's about 3.5 hours!).. we were so proud of him. he was sure tired at the end ;-)
