17 months..

happy 17 months, robert charles!

it is so hard to believe you are almost a year and a half old.. you are becoming our very independent, big boy more and more each day (please slow down!!)

january has been such a fun month for us! we have been busy, busy.. we joke that you have a much fuller social calendar than us!

weight: 24.5 lbs-ish

height: no measurement lately (making you hold still is no small task!).. but everyone who has seen you recently comments on how tall you are growing! we will have official measurements and percentiles after our 18 month appt

size 4 diapers, 12-18 month clothes for most shirts and 18-24 month for pants and some tops

here are some fun facts about you!

whenever you put mommy's sunglasses on you do your "stevie wonder" dance.. so funny

you love playing at your train table we gave you for christmas. you climb right on top of it and push the trains around. you even say "ooo oooo" and do your arm in the "choo choo" motion

you got your two top molars this month.. poor baby! you had an eruption cyst on our top right one that looked so painful! we have had a few rough nights, but overall, you have handled it so well. you even say "ahhhhhh" so we can get a look. on one particularly rough day, you tried to have a cold one to ease the pain :-)

you are eating more and more. the feeding therapist thinks she may only have to see you one more time! woohoo! this month you have been pretty adventurous trying salmon, quinoa, peanut butter, tikka masala chicken, chow mein, rice and beans. way to go, buddy! you are super independent these days and love to feed yourself. you even clap for yourself after most bites ;-) you love fruit smoothies and vanilla ice cream! here you are with daddy eating salmon.. it was definitely a picture worthy moment!

you are sleeping about 12 hours at night with one 1.5- 3 hour nap in the day

you are still not saying any words besides mama, dada, and up.. but we know you're in there! you follow pretty detailed commands and imitate our sounds. you are also doing a lot of babbling and singing these days. you walk around with the phone to your ear and have some pretty intense and funny conversations! i hope those words just start to fly out soon so we can hear what you have to say!

we have a love/hate relationship with little gym. oh my. some days you are really into it and want to participate.. other days (like the last two weeks), you do the complete opposite of what the instructor says.. goodness. you love the parachute, bubbles, ball times, and climbing on the mats.. you just want to do it on your own time. you have a complete meltdown every time they put the parachute away. you steal other kids balls. i try not to laugh... but sometimes i can't help it. sharing is definitely something we are working on ;-) you share most things really well.. but not balls. 

you love being outside. it has been crazy pretty weather so we have been outside.. no joke.. 4 hours a day. we go on walks, go to the park, just walk around the front yard to get leaves.. any excuse to be outside will do. it has gotten to the point where we have to wait in the car (not running) for the garage to close so you won't make a run for it! you bring me your shoes all day and point to outside. it's so funny!

speaking of making runs for it.. you are opening doors with handles.. thank goodness no knobs yet!

you are a nut in the bath! you love to throw your soaking wet toys at us.. actually makes you belly laugh. you are super sneaky about it too. so cute! 

you can run fast.. i swear we have clocked you at 30mph! ;-)

you wear a size 6 shoe.. and are sporting some awfully cute nikes these days..

you love to brush your teeth and hair still

you love your dog, patch (from 101 dalmatians).. you are such a sweet daddy

you are still super lovey and will give lots of hugs and kisses when you are ready

with that being said, we think we are seeing some "terrible twos" coming on ;-) you can throw a pretty dramatic temper tantrum!

you love your daddy's headphones and will steal them any chance you get

you are loving your music class so far.. i will try and get some pictures this month! you guys sing, dance, play instruments.. i tear up at least once every class because i am just so proud you are mine.

you love puzzles and legos

you love to swiffer.. and i am loving that you love it

those are all the fun facts i can think of now.. although i am sure there are 1 million more! you are so much fun to be around, sweet buddy. you make us laugh all day. you make everything more fun and special. we are so very blessed by being your parents. love you so much!!
